Bangkok Birthday

So Bangkok is usually about 3 things: shopping, eating and massages.

One evening, the gang and I decided to go for a head, neck and shoulder massage somewhere close to our hotel before dinner, and somehow the duration of the [terribly bad] massage overshot by… hellalotoftime. We were running late for our dinner at Tawandang Brewery where they warned that they would give our booking to others should we be more than 15 minutes late, so we split into 3 groups of 4 to initial-d! cab to the obscure place.

We showed our cabby the address – Tawandang, 462/61 Rama III Road – and the cabby confidently set off.

After 20 mins, we were on some highway, with no Rama III in sight.

After about 40 mins, I whispered to Beebs, “is he sending us to the airport?” to which dear Beebs replied, “he’s probably driving up to Myanmar..”

After 29154 mins, we landed on Rama III Road which was an unending road to Mordor and Matthew decided to shove Tawandang’s namecard in the cabby’s face when the cabby circled and u-turned Rama III several times. He finally called Tawandang’s number and went, “OHHHHH… TawanDANG!”

#FOL.

We reached said place in record time after that. Matthew deliberated over paying the full amount of cab fare and the cabby worsened the situation by being very defensive, chiding us for giving him the wrong information. “TawanDANG! You said TawanNANG!” GRR.. *NUKE*

Anyway, we entered Tawandang in search of our friends whom we thought would have reached but surprise surprise, we were the first.

Second group arrived after 10 – 15 mins, with sian-half faces. Third group was still missing after Wenli’s last sms of, “our cab driver is crazy.” Just lovely.

Third group arrived 10 – 15 mins after the second group, with sian-half faces. We were starving so we ordered mountains of food like there’s no tomorrow.

Too hungry to camwhore.

The place was totally filled up with peeps.

Oh, hungry peeps!

I don’t know if it was because we were starving but the food was great! Apart from the soup that burned all the way down to my stomach, I was pleasantly surprised by the tastiness of the grub.

Cheers to the birthday boy!

The Tawandang staff came to sing the birthday song for him and even printed out our group photo on a Tawandang card for him to keep.

Happy birthday!
