and our last day, spent running for our airport shuttle bus.

No, we didn’t miss our flight. We even had time to camwhore.
In Taiwan, people have really late nights – the popularity of night markets are evidence of that. We couldn’t keep up with the locals, but we had some adventures nonetheless.
First night:
Miramar ferris wheel

where this ride scared the bejesus out of me.
Shilin night market

Scavenging for food-that-will-destroy-my-bad-throat. Uh uh.

Seeking refuge from the cold in a tea restaurant, and people-watching.
Second night
Taipei 101 observatory

Night view from the observatory.
Wu fen pu night market

Motorists zoomed past us dangerously, making us flatten ourselves to the clothes by the shops or any walls we could find make use of.
Do you guys remember this gal called Stella Ng [Huang Xiang Yi], a singer/actress/popstar? Anyway, sister is friends with her brother and her, and they thought to meet up since everyone’s in Taiwan, but it was sooo difficult to find a good time! Together with a business partner, they opened a cake chain, Black As Chocolate (a franchise of Awfully Chocolate), and they end work late. By the time they were free to meet up, we were all tucked in bed ready to sleep. Lol.
Third night
Tried to get Stella and brother to meet us but they still weren’t free. Argh! I was hoping for some potentially-free awesome chocolate cakes! =P

Name fail. Don’t ask why if you do not get it.
Wu fen pu night market [again, because we like the place]

A shop by one of the lanes.

Sister went into stoned mode as Fernie and I deliberated on the trinkets we want to purchase.
Fourth night
Met up for delicious dim sum with Fernie’s friend who was in taiwan. Sister realised their paths have crossed before. The world is too small.

The people at the table behind us seemed like actors and crew who just completed filming. I thought the guy in the shades looked familiar, but sister didn’t think anything of him.

No?

Directions fail. You don’t know, I don’t know, nobody knows?
Fifth night:
I felt better but sis was beginning to feel under the weather. We headed to a hot spring at Xin Bei Tou [more like a public bath!] and were scandalised by how both males and females bathed together without any inhibitions. The atmosphere was vastly different from Japan’s hot springs! Yikes!!

That was about all I could take.
Our last dinner in Taiwan was at a restaurant beside our hotel. It was an ala carte buffet and all of us had a hard time ordering the food [as they were written in olden chinese characters, Taiwan-style]. At the end of it, Fernie and I were randoming ticking the boxes [to order].

Just outside our restaurant, a gal was busking and she managed to get the attention of many passerbys. We couldn’t hear her [from inside, doh!] but gathered that she must be of a certain standard since……

… the crowd was this big!

She even caught the eye of the media. The next big thing, perhaps?
After dinner, we dispersed like ninjas to do our individual shopping, desperate to spend some of our moolah.
Sister and I spent the longest time in this bag shop, getting stuff for ourselves, brother, and boyfie [for me]. There were a couple of nice places for shopping, but I didn’t note down the names of the buildings/shops. Xi Men Ding is just like that, random yet orderly, each shop has individual style yet the names get drowned in the midst of Taipei.

The bustling night in XMD.
We spent the rest of our night packing up and watching Korean and Taiwan dramas on television.

Goodbye Taiwan!

See your blue skies, mountains, hills, sunsets again soon!

I was fascinated by the chinese characters on the keyboard.
