Randomly Taiwan

After a cow-overload day, Fernie, sister and I headed to Taipei 101 observatory, the reputed world’s tallest building to be constructed in the new millenium, standing at 509.2 metres.

This picture looks very see-no-evil, say-no-evil, hear-no-evil, even though we weren’t do the actions [obviously!].

Me feeling real sick but determined to do the touristy thang.

The observatory lift brought us from the 5th floor to the 89th floor in a record time of 37 seconds [!!].

The indoor observatory viewing gallery was separated into North, East, South and West directions. We were provided headsets and some…. tech-y device which enabled us to have individual recorded ‘live’ tours around the observatory.

This sight greeted me from ‘North’ and I felt let down. Perhaps, like sis, I was so taken by the outdoor view in Osaka that this didn’t impress me one bit.

Ahhh, much better.

Remember the previous Taiwan entry where I wrote about us going on Miramar ferris wheel? We spotted a builiding kept lighting up the words ‘I Love Taiwan’ then and was wondering what it could be. It was actually Taiwan 101! From the observatory, the 3 of us spotted the ferris wheel. It felt like an out-of-body experience. Can you spot the Miramar ferris wheel in the picture? =)

A comparison among the tallest buildings in the world.

An autobiography of the damper, a huge heavy pendulum built to offset movements in the building caused by strong wind loads.

Sister and Fernie bought and sent postcards to their people while I, being too sick, sat wherever ‘sittable’, waiting for them. After a filling [but good] dinner, we headed to Wu Fen Pu for some shopping. To our disappointment, the shops were all closing by the time we reached and we made a promise to visit the place again should we have time in the next few days in Taiwan.

Some random photos:

Pardon the reflection. This was retailing at a shop near the ferris wheel and both sister and I were soooo tempted to get it! Plug the switch on and the ferris wheel will move, powered by electricity. Beee-yoouuu-tee-fuul… but erm. kinda useless.

At Shilin Night Market on the first day in Taiwan, indulging in a different kinda hotdog, and waiting for the lady to pass me my yummy fried chicken – both of which destroyed my already-hurt throat.

Photo-taking is our..uhh. forte. Taken in Ximending while waiting for Fernie to return.

HAHA. Alright. I saw this huge poster outside the Ladies and sister forced me to take a shot like this while an old lady and her middle-aged daughter looked on in bewilderment [quote sis]. IT WAS SO EMBARRASSING!! Sister even tortured me by dragging out the photo-taking with her photography directions, more to the right, no, higher up, move down a little..

The things I do when I am overseas….
